Kenak Medika Ubud Expands Services with the Introduction of EV Charging Stations (SPKLU)

Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud’s Commitment to Sustainable Healthcare Services

Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud continues to strengthen its role as a healthcare facility that not only focuses on medical services, but also prioritizes comfort, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. As one of the hospitals in Ubud serving local residents, tourists, and expatriates, Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud has expanded its facilities with the introduction of SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations) within the hospital area.

This initiative is part of Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud’s long-term effort to adapt to changing lifestyle trends, including the increasing adoption of electric vehicles. The presence of SPKLU within the hospital environment provides added convenience for patients, patients’ families, healthcare professionals, and visitors who rely on electric vehicles in their daily activities.

What Is SPKLU?

SPKLU is a dedicated facility designed to safely and efficiently charge electric vehicles in accordance with national standards. Unlike regular electrical outlets, SPKLU is equipped with electrical protection systems, energy measurement based on kilowatt-hours (kWh), and transparent digital payment methods.

The availability of SPKLU at Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud offers a practical solution for electric vehicle users who need to recharge while visiting the hospital. With easy access and a comfortable setting, charging can take place alongside medical appointments without disrupting time management or mobility.

Strategic Collaboration in Developing Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

The development of SPKLU at Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud is the result of a strategic collaboration with PLN UP3 Bali Timur. This collaboration aims to expand electric vehicle infrastructure while accelerating the transition toward clean energy in Bali.

According to Imadya Nareswari, Manager of PLN UP3 Bali Timur, the placement of SPKLU at public facilities such as hospitals is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for the community in adopting and using electric vehicles in daily life. Easily accessible infrastructure plays a key role in encouraging wider adoption of environmentally friendly transportation.

SPKLU Specifications at Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud

At Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud, two SPKLU units with Medium Charging capability and a capacity of 22 kW will be installed. This charging type is designed to deliver stable and efficient power, making it suitable for public areas with relatively high activity levels.

Medium Charging SPKLU allows electric vehicles to recharge more efficiently compared to conventional electrical charging methods. This provides added value for hospital visitors who require charging facilities without having to wait for extended periods.

The Difference Between SPKLU and SPLU

Many people are still unfamiliar with the difference between SPKLU and SPLU. SPLU (Public Electricity Supply Stations) are generally intended for basic public electricity needs, such as lighting or small-scale business activities.

In contrast, SPKLU is specifically designed for charging electric vehicles. It features higher safety standards, dedicated connectors, and more accurate energy measurement systems. For this reason, electric vehicles are strongly recommended to be charged exclusively through SPKLU to ensure battery safety and optimal performance.

Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud’s Perspective on the SPKLU Initiative

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud was represented by Gusti Ngurah Agung Dananjaya, Director of the Non-Medical Department of Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud. He welcomed the collaboration as a progressive step in supporting public health and environmental sustainability.

He explained that the presence of SPKLU within the hospital environment not only provides convenience for patients, families, and healthcare staff who already use electric vehicles, but also represents tangible support for reducing carbon emissions and fostering a healthier environment in Ubud. This initiative aligns with Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud’s vision of delivering sustainable healthcare services.

Long-Term Benefits for the Community

This collaboration reflects strong synergy between the healthcare and energy sectors in creating shared benefits. For the hospital, the availability of SPKLU adds value to services and aligns with modern infrastructure needs. For the community, an expanding SPKLU network supports the adoption of energy-efficient, low-emission transportation.

Looking ahead, the presence of SPKLU at Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud is expected to serve as a model for integrating public facilities that support a healthy, modern, and sustainable lifestyle.

Conclusion

By introducing SPKLU, Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud demonstrates its commitment to continuous innovation and adaptation to evolving societal needs. This service expansion not only offers greater convenience for electric vehicle users, but also reinforces the hospital’s role in supporting a cleaner environment and improving overall quality of life.

This initiative stands as clear evidence that healthcare facilities can play an active role in driving positive change—both in public health and environmental sustainability.
